Hello, I'm visually impaire and I use Zoom Text, I recently went to the Apple store and I tried the iPhone 4 and it has voice over and magnification on it. The phone large the font but in some areas like the contact/phone book it did not. Is there apps for magnifying because the representative said to look for apps too. I'm wanting to buy the phone but not sign a two year contract. I was going to flash it to Cricket Wireless because Cricket is a non-contract cell phone service with low plans.

Hi, I am not sure about Apple IPhone and magnification. However, if you are willing to purchase Mobile Speak, which includes a magnifier as well for one price, you can. I only use the speach component, which will let you access more , I think, than the IPhone. Also, I tested out the IPhone, but did not like the touch screen method. Mobile speak is available at codefactory.es Do not put WWW in front, or the page will not display correctly. Mobile Speak works with Windows Mobile and Symbian. So If Cricket has an accessible phone, you could go about it this way. Thanks, let me no what you think.

I repeat the last posters comment, you will need a windows based phone for moble speak or a simbeon phone. I suggest downloading it after you purchis the churping cell company's service. Good luck I have not had good results with cricket and sense have left them.

first off you can't flash an iPhone to work on cricket. the only other network you could put an iPhone on is T-Mobile and you would have to unlock the phone to do this not to mention pay full price for the phone not the discounted $199 or $299 you get for signing the 2 year at&T contract as there is a$375 early termination fee if you end the contract right away to take it to another carrier. As faras i know though there isn't anything you can't access on the iPhone via voice over and the magnifier and it gives you access to all the of the phone and the majority of apps in the app store which is more than we can say for mobile speak or talks. Apple employees aren't the most well versed in voiceover or the magnifier, so i suggest grabbing the iPhone manual and fimiliarizing yourself with how you use the phone with the magnifier and bring ng that info with you up on your return to the Apple store.
